Before this lesson I knew nothing about how to take photos of my work, and what lighting and settings I should use etc, so this lesson was really helpful. Here are some of the tips that I learnt.
Have the image quality on large
JPEG- gives you a good final image
RAW- gives you an image that you edit and play around with later
Tungsten light - 3200k, Daylight- 5600k. This is the white balance, which you adjust depending on the type of light so you get the colours accurate.
You need to choose your picture style, i.e. portrait, landscape etc.
Format card- wipes off any previous images so you have a full card to use.
ISO- 400, this is how sensitive the camera is to light
Goose lights- these are small lights with bendy necks, which can be attached to tables etc.
Can use a lenses on some lights to magnify or shrink the light beam, can also use covers to change the shape and colour.
Have your camera in manual so you can adjust everything.
Three Point Lighting- key light, fill light, back light. This set out helps separate actors from the background, and originated from the theatre. Good technique to use when photographing costume.
